US President Donald Trump and his Democratic challenger Joe Biden will debate on Thursday. The Commission on Presidential Debates has indicated that they would cut off a participant’s microphone if they break the rules and interrupt their opponent.

Fighting COVID-19, American families, race in America, climate change, national security and leadership will be the six topics discussed by the candidates during the debate. Trump’s campaign has asked for the topics of the debate to be changed. In a strongly-worded letter to the commission, Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien said the non-partisan commission’s “pro-Biden antics have turned the entire debate season into a fiasco.” “For the good of campaign integrity and for the benefit of the American people, we urge you to rethink and reissue a set of topics for the Oct. 22 debate, with an emphasis on foreign policy,” Stepien wrote in the letter, which was dated Monday and posted on his Twitter account.

Stepien said the topic list would “insulate Biden from his own history.” the Trump campaign has suggested before this that the commission is biased in Biden’s favour and they have avoided questioning Biden on foreign business dealings of the former vice president’s son Hunter.

Spokesman of the Biden campaign TJ Ducklo said, “Donald Trump is afraid to face more questions about his disastrous Covid response.” The Biden campaign maintained that the candidates should stick to what was agreed upon earlier this year, that the moderator would choose topics for the debate.
