100-year-old man in China becomes the oldest patient to beat the disease

80 other patients, besides the 100-year-old were discharged on Saturday

A 100-year-old man was discharged from a hospital in Wuhan, China as he was cured of the deadly coronavirus that has taken thousands of lives across the world so far. Incidentally, the epicentre of the disease is Wuhan. The virus originated at a meat market in the Hubei region of the Wuhan province and people started getting infected after December 28.

The centenarian, who is the oldest known patient to pull through the deadly illness was admitted to Hubei’s Maternity and Child Health Care hospital on February 24. The patient who was treated with antiviral medication, convalescent plasma therapy and traditional Chinese medicine had other underlying health conditions like Alzheimers' disease, hypertension and heart failure.

80 other patients, besides the 100-year-old, whose name is unknown, were discharged, cured of COVID-19, that has claimed more than 4,000 lives so far.
