50-year-old Chief Operating Officer of Facebook, Sheryl Sandberg on Monday, announced her engagement to the head of a consulting firm. Sandberg announced the news with a picture of her with co-founder and chief executive officer of consulting firm Kelton Global Tom Bernthal on her Instagram and Facebook profiles.
Long-time friend and CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg congratulated Sandberg. "Congrats! You're wonderful for each other and I'm so happy for both of you," he wrote. In 2015, Sandberg lost her husband of 11 years Dave Goldberg to a treadmill accident. Goldberg was the CEO of SurveyMonkey
The couple has two children. Sandberg has written a book about coping with the sudden death of her husband, titled Option B. Sandberg, one of the most high profile female executives in US business has also authored Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead. Bernthal had previously worked in the White House under President Bill Clinton and for NBC News, where he was an Emmy Award-winning television producer.
The duo was introduced to each other by her late husband's brother.
