The suspect, who has confessed, wouldn't reveal how he killed his wife and children but will wait for the coroner's results. had confessed to the slayings and was cooperating with detectives, according to the sheriff.

Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson said they appeared to have been killed in late December.

As none of the extended family members heard from them for two weeks, they had created a Facebook group, 'Looking for Todt Family'.

Todt had a physical therapy practice in Connecticut where he would travel during the work week, returning to Florida to be with his family on weekends, the sheriff said.

The sheriff didn't state a motive for the killing and also didn't elaborate on what Todt was being investigated for by federal agents. During his arrest, Todt said that he wanted to harm himself.

Timeline of the event is still being investigated and is quite complicated.

As per court records in Osceola County, the landlord of their five-bedroom home was seeking the family's eviction, saying they owed him more than $5,000. They were paying a monthly rent of more than $4,900. Mounting financial pressure could have been the reason for Todt's actions. Todt, whose license as physical therapist expired in September, owed $100,000 for his two New York-based businesses.
