Five teens— three males and two females between ages 15 and 18 were held in connection with the death of a man.

The man was hit on the head with a brick during clashes between pro and anti-government protesters last month, police said Saturday.

The incident occurred in mid-November when hardcore demonstrators engaged in a "blossom everywhere" campaign across the city to stretch police resources.

Footage showed rival groups of protesters throwing bricks at each other, during which the 70-year-old was hit by a brick and fell to the ground.

He was rushed to a hospital and certified dead the next day.

His is the second death in protest-linked incidents. Alex Chow, a 22-year-old university student, died on November 8 from head injuries sustained during a fall in a multi-storey carpark while police and protesters were clashing.

Last three weeks, after pro-democracy parties won by a landslide in local council elections, there has been a lull in the violence. Allegations of police brutality are one of the movement's rallying cries.

Hong Kong protests have hit the half-year mark with violent clashes between police and hardcore demonstrators, as well as disruption of regular transport.
