Worried about safety of Kashmiri children and women: Malala

Activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, reacting to the tense situation and security clampdown in Kashmir in the wake of the Union government revoking the special status to Jammu and Kashmir's under Article 370 of the Constitution and divided it into two union territories, said she is worried about the safety of children and women in Kashmir.

Taking to social media, Malala said The people of Kashmir have lived in conflict since she was a child, since her father and mother were children and since her grandparents were young. She said she cares about Kashmir because South Asia is her home and added that there "is no need for us t continue to suffer and hurt each other."

She further wrote that she is worried about the safety of the children and women in Kashmir, "the most vulnerable to violence and the most likely to suffer losses in conflict".
