Over 700,000 people have signed a petition on the UK parliament's website to have Brexit revoked and remain in the European Union. The 'Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU' petition has seen more and more people signing to have Brexit revoked as it gathers steam on social media.

“The government repeatedly claims exiting the EU is 'the will of the people'. We need to put a stop to this claim by proving the strength of public support now, for remaining in the EU,” the petition said.

The petition was apparently started soon after Prime Minister Theresa May addressed the nation on television on Tuesday, asking parliamentarians to back her in backing a deal acceptable to both the UK and the EU.

European Union leaders, meanwhile, will meet on Thursday to tell May about delaying Brexit if she gets the support of her opponents in the parliament. UK lawmakers have rejected every deal May has presented in the parliament and also voted down a no-deal Brexit. They did, however, vote to have Brexit delayed.

Over 17 million had Britons voted in a 2016 referendum to leave the bloc.
