Seven wounded in Paris knife attack

The suspect, believed to be an Afghan national, has been arrested by the police

Seven people including two British tourists were injured on Sunday night in Paris when they were attacked by a knife-wielding man, according to police sources. All the seven have been admitted to hospital and four of the them are reported to be in a critical condition.

The assailant armed with a knife and a metal bar targetted strangers who were on the banks of a canal in the northeast of Paris, an hour before midnight. Witnessses tried to stop him but failed to knock him out.

The suspect, believed to be an Afghan national, has been arrested by the police. Judicial sources have revealed that an investigation has been launched for attempted murder.
