ATK Mohun Bagan’s Sandesh Jhingan agrees to join HNK Sibenik

High-profile defender Sandesh Jhingan of ATK Mohun Bagan is set to join HNK Sibenik has after agreeing to the terms of the top-division club in Croatia.

The 28-year-old Arjuna awardee has been wishing to play in Europe for the past two years was unable to make his move due Covid-19 pandemic. Sandesh's five-year contract with ATK Mohun Bagan allows him to quit the clib if he gets opportunity to play in Europe. So ATK Mohun Bagan will have to let Sandesh leave in order to realise his dream of playing in Europe.

Sandesh's talks with the Croatian club was shared on twitter by journalist Adriano Savalli: “Sandesh jhingan , one step away from pursuing his career at HNK Šibenik . The defender goes free from ATK Mohun Bagan to make history and play in the Croatian First Division. There is already an agreement and the idea is that I travel in the next few days.”

The former Kerala Blasters player won the AIFF Emerging Player of the Year award in 2014 and debuted for the national team in 2015. He had captained Kerala Blasters and left the clib after the 2020 season.

"We have an agreement in place with HNK Sibenik. All efforts are now on to get him to Croatia as soon as possible," Sandesh’s representative, Anuj Kichlu from the Madrid-headquartered Best Of You Sports, told Times of India on Monday.
