Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s parents have tested positive for COVID-19 and were admitted to a hospital in his hometown of Ranchi on Wednesday, as per ANI. His father Pan Singh and mother Devaki Devi were admitted to Pulse Superspeciality Hospital.

“Parents of cricketer MS Dhoni have been admitted here at the hospital after testing positive for #COVID19. Their oxygen level is stable: Pulse Superspeciality Hospital, Ranchi, Jharkhand,” ANI tweeted earlier in the day.

Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Vishwanathan has said that Dhoni will remain with the team and will not be flying back to Ranchi.

The CSK captain is currently in Mumbai for the 2021 Indian Premier League, as his team prepares for the clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday. The three-time IPL champions had a shaky start to this season but have bounced back to win the next two matches against Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals respectively.

CSK are currently placed third in the team standings with four points.

Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in IPL history, having led the Chennai Super Kings to lift the title in 2010, 2011 and 2018.

This year, the IPL is being staged in India, with franchises being placed within bio-bubbles as the country grapples with rising cases of COVID-19. Last year, as the pandemic raged on, the IPL was shifted to the UAE.
