IPL 2021: Mumbai Indians beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 runs

Rahul Chahar's four-wicket spell wiped out KKR's openers

Mumbai Indians beat Kolkata Knight Riders by ten runs on Tuesday, despite Andre Russell's career-best 5 for 15 in the first innings against the IPL defending champions.

KKR won the toss and opted to field, going on to blow out Mumbai Indians for 152. However, when KKR came to bat, only Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill were able to deliver, with the rest of the batting lineup falling for single-digit scores.

Rana, Gill, Rahul Tripathi and Eoin Morgan all fell to Rahul Chahar. Trent Boult and Krunal Pandya handled the remaining heavy hitters, restricting KKR to 142 for 7 in 20 overs

For KKR, opener Nitish Rana once again top-scored with 57 off 47 balls while Shubman Gill chipped in with 33 off 24 balls. Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar picked up 4 for 27.

It was a collective bowling effort from KKR with only Suryakumar Yadav (56 off 36 balls) and skipper Rohit Sharma (43 off 32 balls) making notable contributions.

For KKR, Pat Cummins (2/24), Russell (5 for 15) and Shakib Al Hasan (1/23) were the main wicket-takers.
