BCCI announces India T20I squad vs England; Tewatia, Ishan earn maiden call up

The five-match series will be played at Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced India's squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against England, starting from March 12.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee met on Saturday to pick the squad for the upcoming five-match Paytm T20I series against England to be played at the Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera in Ahmedabad,” the BCCI said in a statement.

Batsman Suryakumar Yadav and wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan along with Haryana all-rounder Rahul Tewatia have been named in the squad which also has the returning Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rishabh Pant and Varun Chakarvarthy.

The team was announced on a day when Kishan smashed a blistering 173 off just 94 balls to lead Jharkhand to a massive 324-run victory over Madhya Pradesh in an Elite Group B game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He had also put up an impressive performance for his IPL franchise Mumbai Indians.

The T20I matches against England will be played on March 12, 14,16, 18 and 20.

India’s T20I squad: Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma (vice-captain), KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Yuzvendra Chahal, Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Rahul Tewatia, T Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini, Shardul Thakur.
