Kerala Blasters have decided to part ways with head coach Kibu Vicuna, sources said, hours after they slumped to their worst defeat this season of the Indian Super League.

Though both the parties are yet to make it official, it is learnt that the Spaniard has been shown the door after a lacklustre season, with two matches still to go.

The Blasters were crushed 4-0 by Hyderabad FC earlier today, and are currently in the 10th position in the points table.

Sources told THE WEEK that Vicuna had informed the players of his impending exit, before the match today.

The two-time finalists have conceded 33 goals so far—the highest by any team this season—and scored 22 in 18 matches.

The Kerala Blasters have also dropped 18 points so far, which is the highest by any team in the ISL 2020-21.

Vicuna, who won the I-League with Mohun Bagan in 2019-20, is the ninth coach of the Kerala Blasters since the inception of the ISL in 2014. He took over the reins from Eelco Schattorie at the end of the last season as Antonio Habas-coached ATK merged with Mohun Bagan last year.
