Mumbai Indians pulled back things brilliantly in the latter half of the innings to restrict Royal Challengers Bangalore to 164/6 in 20 overs in their IPL 2020 match at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, today.

Led by Jasprit Bumrah, who took 3/14 in his four overs, the Mumbai Indian bowlers choked the RCB batsmen in the death overs, conceding just 35 runs in the last five overs while picking up four wickets.

In fact, the 17th over bowled by Bumrah was a double wicket maiden, accounting for Shivam Dube (2) and Devdutt Padikkal (74).

This, after Padikkal gave RCB a flying start in the company of new opening partner Josh Philippe (33), who was drafted into the playing XI in place of Aaron Finch. The two put on 71 runs for the first wicket in quick time. Padikkal slammed 12 fours and one six in his entertaining 45-ball stay at the crease.

But, a rare off day for skipper Virat Kohli (9), who was bounced out by Bumrah, and AB de Villiers (15) meant that RCB lost steam towards the latter half of the innings.

An unbeaten 26-run partnership between Gurkeerat Singh (14*) and Washington Sundar (10*) helped RCB breach the 160-run mark.
