Actor Adil Hussain took to Twitter and shared Arsenal’s post, questioning why Indian celebrities, media and cricketers have not extended their support to the Assamese during the floods.

“@Arsenal stands with Assamese People. I don’t understand why, then, our Celebrities, Mainstream Media, Cricket Stars are not raising their voices in support of Assamese people! So disappointed with you all,” Hussain tweeted.

India football team captain Sunil Chhetri tweeted that Assam needs help along with prayers to recover from floods.

“Along with the prayers, Assam needs as much attention and help as possible to recover from the floods it is under. There’s been considerable loss of life - both man and animal , and I can only sincerely hope that the numbers don’t rise. #AssamFloods,” Chhetri wrote.

Arsenal, among other football clubs, has a huge fanbase in India, especially in the northeast region. It is one of the most successful clubs in English football, having won 13 titles in the league.

Following Arsenal’s post, another English club, Chelsea, also expressed their support to Assam, posting an image on their official Facebook page on Saturday, and captioning it, “Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the floods in Assam.”
