Neymar fans in Barcelona may have to wait a while before they see the former forward return to Camp Nou. With the COVID-19 outbreak having a huge financial impact on the club, Barcelona may not have sufficient funds to fund a deal for the PSG man. Barcelona boss Setien has already hinted at looking at other more affordable options according to Catalunya Radio

Barcelona have been at the forefront to make a bid for their former forward. Neymar has also expressed interest in joining ranks with Messi and Suarez to once again form the fabled MSN trio. But with La Liga indefinitely suspended as Spain tackles the COVID-19 outbreak, lack of matches have burned a serious hole in the club’s finances. The club’s top players have also taken huge pay cuts. Due to the lack of matches, it is unclear whether the club will have to pay back broadcasters for any amount paid upfront for matches that haven’t been played.

Barcelona coach Quique Setien has expressed his interest in signing Inter’s Lautaro Martinez who would be a much more affordable option as compared to the 200 million plus PSG man. With the club going through a tough time financially, emptying their wallets on Neymar could be an unwise move. Martinez has performed well for Inter last year scoring eleven goals in twenty-two appearances for the club in the Italian league. While Neymar is an obvious choice when it comes to pure talent and the fact that many in the Barcelona dressing room are awaiting his return, present circumstances may most probably hinder the deal.
