Brazilian World Cup winning captain and former coach Carlos Dunga, former Netherlands coach Guus Hiddink and former England team manager Sven-Goran Eriksson have shown interest in managing ISL franchise FC Goa, as per reports.

FC Goa sacked head coach Sergio Lobera in January and are yet to find a replacement.

Many big names find a place in the list of people who have applied for the job of head coach at FC Goa. One of them is former World Cup champion Carlos Dunga. As per TOI, Dunga’s representative told the club that his interest is genuine, and he has heard a lot about Indian football, with FC Goa being the one club that he is familiar with.

Dunga was captain of the Brazilian football team in 1994 when they won the World Cup that year. He has also coached his national team twice (from 2006 to 2010 and again during 2014-2016). It is understood that the Brazilian’s interest in the Indian franchise is likely to have come from Zico who coached the club in its early years.

Former Netherlands coach Guus Hiddink and ex-England manager Sven-Goran have also reportedly expressed their desire to coach FC Goa. The Indian club, however, is unlikely to sign on any big names, the report by TOI said, as sources said that salary will be the biggest constraint.

The club, the report said, may go for someone younger, who will stay true to FC Goa’s philosophy. A decision regarding the new coach can be expected to be made in the next two weeks.
