NBA announced a halt on matches for rest of the season

While the world scrambles to ensure containment of the coronavirus, it is now affecting the sporting world. While India's biggest cricketing event, IPL has been postponed, the season-opening Formula One grand prix was cancelled on Friday. World Cup qualifiers have been affected, with Fifa and the AFC postponing Asian qualifiers in March and June.

Here are the sports stars who have been affected by the COVID-19. 

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been infected with the coronavirus. He tested positive on Friday.

New Zealand Cricketer Lockie Ferguson, after complaining of sore throat, has been put under isolation on Saturday. 

25-year-old Daniele Rugani, centre-back for Italy and Juventus, was tested positive for the virus on Thursday. A total of 121 staff and players of Juventus football club have been placed under isolation. 

19-year-old Premier League winger for Chelsea, Callum Hudson-Odoi, announced that he was tested positive for the deadly coronavirus on Friday.

Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Greek team Olympiacos, which played Arsenal late last month, confirmed he had the virus, so did Hannover 96 defender, 23-year-old Timo Hubers. Hannover 96 is a 2. Bundesliga team and Hubers tested positive for the disease on Friday. A Bundesliga player, Luca Kilian, a defender Paderborn, tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday.

Rudy Gobert, a 27-year-old NBA star from Utah Jazz was tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. His teammate, 23-year-old- Donovan Mitchell, was tested positive on Thursday. 

NBA on Thursday announced a halt on matches for rest of the season after Mitchell was tested positive for the virus. Gobert, in the meantime, received flak for mockingly touching reporters' mics, making fun of the coronavirus before he was diagnosed.
