An unusual visitor on the field delayed the Ranji Trophy cricket match of Andhra vs Vidarbha. A snake sighted on the field had players stunned at Vijaywada's Dr Gokaraju Liala Gangaaraju ACA Cricket Ground in Andhra Pradesh.

The incident was tweeted by BCCI's official Twitter handle.

Conditions were perfect for opening day action, Vidarbha captain Faiz Fazal won the toss and elected to field first.

The snake was spotted just when the umpires and the players were walking to the middle of a field. It caused a few minutes of delay and was seen slithering away before ground staffers could chase it away.

Andhra made a poor start after being put in to bat. CR Gnaneshwar fell prey to Rajneesh Gurbani after scoring only 8 runs.

The team that has clinched the prestigious title two times in a row will aim to make it a hat-trick this season.
