India's Sai Praneeth B. advanced to the pre-quarters of the BWF World Championships, beating Lee Dong Keun of Korea 21-16, 21-15 in Basel, Switzerland.

The 27-year-old, ranked 19th in the world, overcame the former world no. 16 to book a place in the third round.

Though he took the first game without breaking much sweat, a few errors in the second game gave Dong Keun a foothold in the match. Praneeth, however, made a strong comeback to finish off the match in 56 minutes.

In the first round, Praneeth had defeated 66th-ranked Jason Anthony Ho-Shue of Canada 21-17, 21-16 in just 39 minutes.

The Indian now leads the head-to-head record, having won three, with Dong Keun winning the other two.

Earlier, H.S. Prannoy stunned 11th seeded Lin Dan 21-11 13-21 21-7 in the match that lasted a little over an hour, to move into the pre-quarters. With today's win, he became the first Indian to beat Lin Dan thrice.

In the women's doubles, the Indian pair of Ashwini Ponappa-N. Sikki Reddy got a walkover from Chinese Taipei's Chang Ching Hui and Yang Ching Tun in their opening match. They will face seventh-seeded Chinese pair of Du Yue and Li Yin Hui in the second round.
