Pakistan win toss, opt to bowl first against India

Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed won the toss and chose to send India to bat first in their World Cup match at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The India-Pakistan clash is one of the most anticipated matches in the World Cup. India have won all their six World Cup encounters against Pakistan, and Virat Kohli's men will look to make it seven this time. All of India's six World Cup matches against Pakistan have been pretty one-sided.

In-form opener Shikhar Dhawan is out due to an injury he sustained during the match against Australia, and is likely to miss the rest of the tournament. K.L. Rahul will open the innings with vice-captain Rohit Sharma. Vijay Shankar could be at No 4.

For Pakistan, Mohammed Amir will pose a bit of a challenge for Indian batsmen, especially after his brilliant performance against Australia. Youngsters such as Hasan Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi will look to make their mark in the this mouthwatering match.

The weather is not likely to be a dampener similar to the India-New Zealand match which was abandoned without having a single ball bowled. The meteorology department predicts “light rain showers and a moderate breeze” on the match day.
