World Cup 2019 hosts England on Tuesday unveiled their team kit for the ICC mega event, starting on May 30. However, going by the responses it has received on social media, the new jerseys are not much of a hit with the fans.
The England cricket team took to Twitter to reveal the new jerseys inspired from the 1992 edition of the World Cup and asked followers “how lit (in emoji) is our #CWC19 kit?”.
How 🔥 is our #CWC19 kit? 😍@NBCricket pic.twitter.com/rUpIcyKeIa

Fans bombarded the tweet with replies, describing the new jerseys as “awful” and reminded the England cricket account that their national colours were white and red. Fans were not impressed as some pointed out that England was taking a page out of Australia's book with the retro look. Some others pointed out that the colour was similar to India's jersey. Another user said it was "straight out of the 90s".
Awful

Perfectly acceptable - if the World Cup was taking place in the 1990s.

Looks more like an India kit than an England one

It's a strong NO from me

Why is our kit light blue? Red and white are our colours no?

However, not all responses were disapproving of the powder blue jersey. English cricketer Stuart Broad was one of the few people who felt the new kit was “beautiful”.
A beautiful kit to lift the World Cup in 🏏🏆🙌🏻

Where do I buy one? No, seriously, where and when?

I swear nobody has ever liked a kit when it comes out. This is awesome, let it happen.

England made it to the final in the 1992 World Cup, hosted by Australia and New Zealand, but lost to Pakistan who lifted their first and only title.
Team England is the top-ranked side in the ODI cricket rankings going into the World Cup.
