Australia lost its last four wickets for just 16 runs in four overs as India bowled out the hosts for 326 in the first innings on the second day of the Test at Perth. This is the second Test of the four-match series; India won the first Test at Adelaide by 31 runs.

Resuming at 277 for 6, Australia captain Tim Paine and Pat Cummins made steady progress to take the score to 310 when Cummins was bowled by Umesh Yadav for 19. Three balls later, Paine fell leg-before wicket to Jasprit Bumrah for 38. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood followed soon after, being caught behind by Rishabh Pant off successive deliveries from Ishant Sharma.

Sharma recorded the best bowling figures for India in the first innings, claiming four wickets for 41. Sharma will also be on a hat-trick when he begins bowling in the Australian innings.

The Indian innings began tentatively, but Murali Vijay was bowled by Starc for nought before lunch. K.L. Rahul is still batting at one, with the Indian score at lunch reading 6 runs for 1 wicket.
