West Indies coach Stuart Law has been suspended for the first two One Day International matches of the five-match series against India following a breach of the International Cricket Council Code of Conduct.

Law was found guilty of breaching Level 2 Article 2.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “Public criticism of, or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in an International Match or any Player, Player Support Personnel, Match Official or team participating in any International Match, irrespective of when such criticism or inappropriate comment is made”.

Law had criticised match officials during the second Test between India and West Indies in Hyderabad. According to the statement released by the ICC, Law had walked into the TV umpire's room after the Kieran Powell's dismissal and made inappropriate comments. He then went to the fourth umpire's area and did the same.

Law received a 100 per cent fine and three demerit points. He had previously incurred a demerit point during the Dominica Test against Pakistan in May 2017, and the accumulation of four demerit points within 24 months leads to a two-match ban.

He has admitted to the offence and accepted the suspension for the ODIs in Guwahati and Visakhapatnam respectively.

The ODI series begins on October 21 in Guwahati.
