India's boxing sensation Mary Kom, who won a gold medal in her maiden Commonwealth Games appearance in the Gold Coast, quashed rumours about her retirement. The five-time world champion said that winning the medal was meaningful to her, but she has no plans on calling it quits just yet.

Mary Kom had beaten Northern Ireland's Kristina O'Hara in the women's 48kg category final to win the gold—her first in the Commonwealth Games.

“An Olympic gold is what I'm still dreaming of,” she said. Mary has five world champion titles and an Olympic bronze from the London Games. She said that she intends to continue boxing as long as her body allowed her to.

“If I can win it, then it's good, but if I can't then it will always remain like an unfulfilled dream,” Mary said referring to her chances of winning an Olympic gold.

Reflecting on her performance at the Commonwealth Games, Mary said that she is ecstatic to give something to boxing and to the entire nation.

“Every medal is very important for me. Winning a medal at this time's Commonwealth Games is very meaningful for me—to give something for boxing and for my entire nation. So, I feel really happy," Mary said.

India ended their campaign at the Commonwealth Games with a medal haul of 66, that included 26 gold, 20 silver and 20 bronze.
