A team of IIT-Delhi students have developed an application to help trace individuals who come in close contact with COVID-19 positive cases.

The application being developed by five students aims in providing verified statistics through credible sources. The app, using the Bluetooth feature, will backtrack and alert all individuals who have been in the close vicinity of individuals infected by COVID-19. If an individual does come in close contact with a COVID-19 positive patient, the app will connect them with the nearest healthcare facility. The app will also provide guidelines for self-quarantine and supportive care guidelines.

The application is being developed by five students—Vikas Upadhyay Gulshan Jahagid, Pankaj Singh, Anchal Sharma, and Arshad Nasser, who are part of IIT-Delhi’s Assistive Technology Lab, a tech lab dedicated to creating technology to help disabled people.

According to the team, the application provides precise, secure, and reliable tracking techniques. Vikas, who leads the team said, they have already piloted the application with 50 users from their friends and families.

“We are looking forward to collaborating with government bodies and agencies to work with us and deploy the application as soon as possible,” Vikas told YourStory.
