West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday came down heavily on the Narendra Modi government on the occasion of Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary.

Banerjee called the dismantling of the planning commission as being disrespectful to Bose as he had first talked about the need for a planning commission in India.

“The planning commission was the brainchild of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He thought of a new India and development of it. But today, planning commission has ceased to exist,” Banerjee said on Tuesday at a function to mark the birth anniversary of Bose.

The West Bengal chief minister further said that the noted freedom fighter also thought of centre and state relations in a free India.

“He thought of centre-state relations under a federal structure. But what we are seeing today is distressing,” Banerjee said.

Banerjee also wondered why the Central government could not crack the mystery surrounding the legendary freedom fighter’s death.

“The way he went missing, his last day is mysterious even today. Why in this world of big technology we could not be able to crack the mystery? Have we done enough?” Banerjee asked.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress has decided to attend the anti-Modi rally called by Yashwant Sinha, a BJP leader and former Union minister in Delhi. The chief minister would also send her party's representative to a similar rally in Maharastra as well.

A Trinamool Congress leader said, “Didi is interested in a third front, which would not have left parties. Everywhere our party would be there. This will create the third front before the 2019 election.”

A Trinamool Congress MP said that Shiv Sena’s parting ways from the NDA on Tuesday was part of the bigger game plan of creating a third front for the 2019 election.

“Don’t forget that Mamata Banerjee had held a meeting with Uddhav Thackeray. And today you are hearing his decision to quit NDA. Wait for sometime; you will see more things happen,” said the leader.
