Senior advocate Amrendra Sharan, who has been appointed as amicus curiae by the Supreme Court, told the apex court that there was no 'mysterious' person involved in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.

According to media reports, Sharan was asked by the SC to examine all documents related to the assassination of the father of the nation to see if there was a 'mysterious' person behind the murder of Mahatma Gandhi. He informed the court that there is no evidence that prove that Godse was not the man who shot and killed Gandhiji.

He said the four-bullet theory, raised by Pankaj Phadnis, a researcher and co-founder of Abhinav Bharat which is an organisation inspired by the ideologies of Veer Savarkar, is wrong. According to the theory, four bullets were fired at Gandhiji and it was the fourth bullet, fired by an unknown person, that claimed his life.
