Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be holding a two-day meeting with his cabinet colleagues starting September 23, Wednesday, which could hold the key to a possible cabinet expansion. However, the government has not given an official explanation in this regard, reports said.

PM Modi will discuss the progress of various schemes with his colleagues during the two-day meet being held in the national capital. The meeting will review whether the government's plans and policies have had the intended results, how much progress these schemes have made, and whether there is any room for improvement. The coordination between different ministries will also become a topic of conversation, TV9 Marathi said in a report.
Earlier, the BJP had requested two-year performance reports from all ministers, detailing their achievements and reasons for unmet goals. The Prime Minister has also met secretaries to review the status of pending projects. The ministers have also been provided with reports on their social media reach and engagement.
The ministers will participate in the meeting in groups. They will be divided into groups so that brainstorming sessions on effective governance and potential reforms become effective.

As the meeting will be analysing how effective the ministries have been in the NDA government's third consecutive tenure, it is quite possible that a cabinet reshuffle could well happen before its conclusion.
The possibilities of a potential Cabinet reshuffle have been making news for the past few months, with the BJP's regional allies getting to send more representatives to PM Modi's core team. Some of the veterans were rumoured to be asked to step down to make space for newcomers, it was said.
According to some media reports, the meeting could well be the prelude to a possible reshuffle. The key state of Uttar Pradesh is heading to polls soon, along with Punjab, and the BJP will be looking to give its leaders from these states more visibility in Delhi.
