Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his satisfaction at the preparations made for the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj today, ahead of a visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
His first point of inspection was the 100-bed temporary hospital built by the Medical and Family Welfare Department. The hospital has an emergency ward, intensive care unit (ICU), OPD as well as waiting area, male ward, female ward, children's ward and an operation theatre. The hospital will make use of AI cameras in the 10-bed ICU and has a laboratory in place. Yogi suggested that there needed to be better arrangements for ventilation in the hospital.
Over the Mahakumbh, 381 doctors including physicians, surgeons, gynaecologists, paediatricians and others will be deployed at the hospital. It will be operated by the Cantonment Board with support from Medanta Hospital.
The CM also spent considerable time inspecting the purification work at the sewage treatment plant in Sector 6 of the mela area.
A new technology, geotube, is being used to purify river water. Geotubes are containers made of specially engineered textiles that are hydraulically filled with a slurry mixture of water and sand. The hydraulic pressure allows sand to travel through the tube while the water is dissipated through the permeable fabric.
The CM also did a ground inspection of the Akshay Vat corridor located inside the Prayag Fort. He reached the corridor on an e-cart and was appreciative of the ongoing beautification. The CM appeared to be extremely touched by a statue of an infant Krishna and got his photo taken with it.
He also inspected the Bade Hanuman Corridor located on the Sangam coast. Phase one work at the corridor is being undertaken by the Prayagraj Development Authority. Once completed, the corridor will have six entry points for pilgrims against the existing two.
According to an official present at the inspection, the CM expressed his happiness at the preparation.
