Following a fresh wave of violence, the Jiribam district administration on Monday issued prohibitory orders, banning the assembly of five or more persons.
The order issued by the District Magistrate also prohibited carrying of fire arms, swords, sticks, stone or other lethal weapons, sharp edged article or objects of any description which can be used as offensive weapons.
"There is apprehension of widespread disturbance to peace and public tranquility or a riot or any affray in the area and grave danger to human lives and properties because of unlawful activities of some anti-social elements," said the notification.
The order was issued shortly after ten militants were killed in an encounter with security personnel at Jakurador Karong in the Borobekra sub-division.
The encounter took place after heavily armed militants set on fire several shops and attacked some houses and a CRPF camp. The militants also attacked the Borobekra police station.

"A criminal case has been registered and is being investigated into. Operations in and around Jakuradhor, under Borobekra Police Station, Jiribam District continues to flush out armed militants. Reinforcement teams consisting of Assam Rifles, CRPF and Civil Police have been rushed there," sources said.
Borobekra sub-division, one of the worst-affected areas in the district, has witnessed multiple gun attacks and arson since violence broke out in June.
The region also witnessed a spike in attack on farmers, with officials claiming that such attacks are affecting the harvesting of paddy crops as many farmers in the periphery areas of the valley are feeling afraid to go to the fields.
