Both Houses of the Parliament on Friday adjourned for the day as opposition parties demanded an immediate discussion on the Adani Group issue. Congress stands firm with their decision over discussions in the Houses over the issue.

Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla denied the opposition requests and asked the members “not to make unsubstantiated claims". Rajya Sabha chairperson Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar also rejected all motions by the opposition as well.

Members of the Parliament Congress chief whip Rajya Sabha Naseer Hussain and party's whip in Lok Sabha Manickam Tagore has given the adjournment notices.

Notices under Rule 267 was given by BRS leader K. Keshava Rao and Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi on the same issue as well. The Rule 267 allows suspension of the day's business to debate issue suggested by member, reported PTI.

"...This House do suspend the Zero Hour and relevant rules related to Question Hour and other businesses of the day to discuss the issue of fraud in investment by LIC, SBI, public sector banks and other financial institutions losing market value, endangering the hard-earned savings of crores of Indians," said Hussain in his notice.

Rao in his notice said that the report exposes the dangers to which the Indian people and economy are subjected to and merit immediate discussion.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Manish Tewari demanded a discussion on the China border situation in Lok Sabha.

"....that this House do suspend Zero Hour and other businesses of the day to have a detailed discussion on the border situation with China. Since April 2020, China has engaged in what can only be described as a steady land grab," Tewari said in his notice.

The adjournment notices comes a day after opposition parties stalled houses of Parliament over the issue demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe or an SC monitored probe into the “scam”.

Congress has alleged that the LIC and SBI have been “forced to invest in the Adani Group. It has made the public money in danger, the party alleged.
