Metro lines, NH stretch: PM Modi to launch multiple projects in Karnataka, Maharashtra

The PM will launch the Yadgiri drinking water supply scheme in Karnataka

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Karnataka and Maharashtra on Thursday, where he will inaugurate multiple developmental projects, including a drinking water scheme.

The Prime Minister will visit Yadgiri and Kalaburagi districts of Karnataka in the morning. There, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a National Highway (NH) development project at Kodekal in the Yadgiri district. 

He will also launch the work on the Yadgiri multi-village drinking water supply scheme under Jal Jeevan Mission. The water treatment plant of 117 MLD will be built at a cost of more than Rs 2,050 crore and aims to provide potable water to about 2.3 lakh households in the Yadgiri district.

According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), he will also inaugurate the Narayanpur Left Bank Canal - Extension Renovation and Modernisation Project. The project, with canal carrying capacity of 10,000 cusecs, can irrigate 4.5 lakh hectares of command area and will benefit more than three lakh farmers in 560 villages of Kalaburgi, Yadagir and Vijaypur districts. 

Modi will also be at Malkhed in Kalaburagi on Thursday, where he will distribute title deeds to eligible beneficiaries of 

newly-declared revenue villages. He will also lay the foundation stone for the 71-km section of the NG 150C. The six-land Greenfield project is also part of the Surat-Chennai Expressway that will pass through six states, including Maharashtra and Karnataka.

In Mumbai

The Prime Minister has a busy schedule in Mumbai too where he will inagurate the two lines of Mumbai Metro 2A and 7 from Gundavali Metro station in Andheri and will also undertake a metro ride from the station. 

The 2A line, the work of which began in 2015, connects Dahisar E and DN Nagar (yellow line) and is around 18.6 km long. Metro line 7 connects Andheri E – Dahisar E (red line) and is around 16.5 km long. 

He will also launch MUMBAI 1 Mobile App and National Common Mobility Card (Mumbai 1). The app will facilitate ease of travel, can be shown at the entry gates of metro stations and supports digital payment to buy tickets through UPI. 

The Prime Minister willr lay the foundation stone of seven sewage treatment plants, which will be built at a cost of around ₹17,200 crore.

Another project that the Prime Minister will inaugurate is the 20 Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Aapla Dawakhana, an initiative that provides essential medical services like health checkups, medicines, investigations and diagnostics completely free, to the people.

The redevelopment work of three hospitals in Mumbai and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus will also be inagurated by the Prime Minister on Wednesday.
