In the last eight and half years, the Narendra Modi government has made the Indian economy and society more inclusive and self-dependent, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said.

Briefing the media about the social and economic resolution passed at the BJP’s national executive meeting on its second day of deliberations, he said, “While assuming charge, [Prime Minister Narendra] Modi had said that his government will follow the 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' mantra. Our economic policies have reflected that intent for the poor, and the marginalised. We have moved from entitlement to empowerment.”

The resolution was moved by Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, and was seconded by MoS External Affairs V. Muraleedharan and Haryana MP Sunita Duggal.

“When we came to power, India was tenth in terms of world economy. As we enter the amrit kaal of 75 years of Independence, we have reached number fifth, leaving behind United Kingdom. This is huge success of our economic policies. We have worked to ensure that no one is hungry; five kilogrammes of rice and one kilogramme of dal have been given to 80 per cent of the country’s population,” Pradhan said.

The economic resolution noted that when BJP came to power in 2014, India was contributing 2.6 per cent of the world GDP, and that it has now reached 3.5 per cent. “It's a big acheivement during the 75th year of Independence. Our GST collections have increased by 22 per cent since 2014.”

The resolution also hailed the Modi government for developing a digital transaction ecosystem and stated that 40 per cent of global digital transactions are happening in India, according to Pradhan.

Referring to the job creation and employment, an issue which is often used attack the Modi government, Pradhan said, “Our youth have become job creators from job seekers. There are 150 unicorns in the country today.”

The resolution noted that infrastructure is being created in the country at a great speed. “In the new India, the one who wears 'Hawaai Chappal' can also sit in the 'Hawaai Jahaaz'. The development of inland waterways is being done at a fast pace. The cruise tourism in India is not merely in the books any more,” the minister said.

Pradhan said the resolution talked about welfare measures such as free ration to the poor, housing for all and free of cost vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
