Prime Minister Narendra minced no words while stating that some countries 'support terrorism as part of their foreign policy', in an obvious reference to Pakistan and China. Addressing international conference 'No Money for Terror', the PM said that these countries offer political, ideological and financial support to terrorists.

Modi urged nations to unite against “all kinds of overt and covert backing of terror”. He added: “There must be a cost imposed upon countries that support terrorism, and also on organisations and individuals which try to create sympathy for terrorists. They must also be isolated. There can be no ifs and buts entertained in such matters.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah openly called out groups like Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed for 'continuing to spread terror'. "Some countries protect and shelter terrorists....seek to undermine or even hinder our collective resolve to fight terrorism. Protecting a terrorist is equivalent to promoting terrorism,” Shah said.

Speaking about terror financing, Shah said: “Terrorists are spreading violence, radicalising youth and finding new ways to financial sources. To conceal their identity and spread radical material, terrorists are using dark net. Use of virtual assets like cryptocurrency also rising.”

The 'No Money for Terror' conference, attended by 72 countries, except Pakistan and Afghanistan, is being held in Delhi. The third edition of the conference hosted by the Mnistry of Home Affairs was inaugurated by Modi.

The home ministry last week had said that the hosting of this conference shows the importance being given by the Modi government to the issue of international terrorism as well as its zero tolerance policy.
