The Election Commission (EC) on Friday announced the poll schedule for Himachal Pradesh. The poll body said that elections in Himachal Pradesh will be held in a single phase on November 12.

The results will be declared on December 8, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said. Over 55 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise for 68 assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh, he said.

The EC did not announce the poll schedule for Gujarat.

The term of the Gujarat Assembly ends on February 18, 2023, whereas the term of the Himachal House ends on January 8, 2023.

Political parties have started campaigning in these states ahead of the elections. In Gujarat, the ruling BJP launched the Gaurav Yatra earlier this week. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also intensified its campaign with frequent visits from party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kerjiwal and Manish Sisodia to the poll-bound state.

In Himachal Pradesh, too, the BJP has been campaigning aggressively. Modi announced a slew of development projects during his recent visit. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra kickstarted the Congress's campaign in the hill state on Friday. She also released the party's election theme song on the occasion.
