The CBI on Thursday arrested Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mondal in the cattle smuggling scam case. The TMC leader had skipped summons from the agency earlier citing illness.
Mondal on Wednesday had written to CBI requesting the agency to provide him with two weeks of time to appear before the agency. Mondal reportedly informed the agency that he has been advised bed rest by doctors. Mondal was summoned twice in three days by the CBI in relation with the cattle smuggling case.
CBI officials arrested the TMC strongman from his residence on Thursday. The agency had questioned him twice earlier and conducted raids at various place in connection with the case.
