A bike rally that will collect sacred soil from Bhabra (Alirajpur district) – the birthplace of freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad—and pay tributes to the martyr was flagged off from Bhopal on Thursday by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

The bike rally – inclusive of 20 riders – will pass through different districts on its way to Bhabra and will return to Bhopal with the sacred soil. This soil will be applied on the forehead of the participants at the beginning of state-level youth panchayat (convention) in Bhopal on July 23 and 24 held to mark the 116th birth anniversary of Azad, Chouhan said.

The remaining soil will be kept in a vessel at the Shaurya Smarak (martyrs’ memorial) in Bhopal, the CM added. Born in a small village like Bhabra, Azad went on to sacrifice everything for the cause of the nation, Chohan said.

The chief minister said that the purpose of the youth convention is to deliberate on how youths can dedicate themselves for building self-reliant India and self-reliant Madhya Pradesh and for changes in social, economic and political sectors. The event will pave the way for the progress of the state, he added.

The CM said that at the panchayat, there will be deliberations on measures that can be initiated for the creation of a golden Madhya Pradesh. The ideas that will emerge from this will be used for building a self-reliant India and self-reliant Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to turn the ‘Amritkaal’ (time following the 75th year) of Independence into a golden opportunity for nation building. This programme is being organized according to his intentions, Chouhan said.
