Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday called on people to use the 75th year of independence to work for further development of the country.

Shah was speaking at an event in Bengaluru after laying the foundation stone for Nrupatunga University and virtually inaugurating a forensic science laboratory located in Bellary. Shah said 2022, which marks the 75th year of India's independence, was an year to take a resolution. Shah said “130 crore people of India should resolve that when India celebrates 100th year of independence in 2047, the country reaches the highest position in every field in the world.” He called on people to resolve to make India the 'vishwaguru' in 2047.

Shah said “Under PM Modi's leadership, we are building infrastructure for higher education. In the journey of 75 years, the country has crossed a lot of destinations.”

Shah credited Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for making Karnataka the first state to implement the New Education Policy. He noted Karnataka had set an example by creating a task force to implement the NEP.

Shah boasted the Narendra Modi government had created over 200 medical colleges and several institutions of higher education, including IIMs and IITs. Shah noted the Modi government had overseen creation of universities in the once “neglected” Northeast.

Shah also lauded the Bommai government for modernising infrastructure for forensic science. He noted forensic science was critical to ensuring proper investigation and convictions in criminal cases.
