Covid-19: Mandaviya to hold review meeting with health ministers of 9 states/UTs

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will hold a virtual meeting with the health ministers of nine states and Union Territories on Tuesday to take stock of the prevailing Covid-19 situation. The meeting will discuss public health preparedness for containment and management of the pandemic.

According to reports, health ministers of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Ladakh, Uttar Pradesh and Chandigarh will attend the meeting.

Mandaviya had held a similar meeting with the health ministers of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa, Dadra & Nagra Haveli and Daman & Diu on January 10.

India on Monday reported 3,06,064 new Covid-19 cases while the test positivity rate climbed to 20.75 per cent. With the addition of 439 deaths in the last 24 hours, the country’s overall Covid death toll has mounted to 4,89,848.

A total of 2,43,495 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours with the recovery rate at 93.07 per cent.

Meanwhile, India’s vaccination coverage has crossed 162.77 crore with more than 49 lakh doses administered on Monday. More than 87 lakh precaution doses for the identified categories of beneficiaries for vaccination have been administered so far, the health ministry said in a statement.
