Discontent seems to be rising in the Uttarakhand Congress over the proposed induction of Harak Singh Rawat, who was expelled by the BJP. As The Indian Express reported, sources close to Harish Rawat, former Uttarakhand chief minister and campaign head, said he has conveyed his discontent to the the central leadership; Harak Singh had played a major role in destabilising the Rawat government in 2016. The publication reported from sources that CLP leader Pritam Singh, who doesn’t share a very good equation with Harish Rawat, and AICC in-charge of the state, Devendra Yadav, are in favour of re-inducting Harak.

Harak Singh Rawat, who was forest minister and MLA for Kotdwar, was reported to be unhappy with the BJP leadership. He was said to be seeking a ticket for his daughter-in-law, Anukriti Gusain, from the Lansdowne constituency for the coming election and a change of seat for himself. BJP leaders claimed Harak Singh Rawat had been in touch with the Congress.

There are also reports at least two BJP MLAs could join the opposition party with him. Interestingly, Harak Singh Rawat was among 10 Congress MLAs who rebelled against Harish Rawat, during the latter's tenure as chief minister, in 2016 and switched to the BJP.
