Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop flights from those countries which are affected by new variant of COVID-19, tentatively called Omicron. "With great difficulty, our country has recovered from the coronavirus. We should do everything possible to prevent this new variant from entering India," Kejriwal said, reported ANI.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair an important meeting on the COVID-19 situation and the vaccination drive in the country, amid the surge of Omicron and countries across the world closing their borders to the regions where the spread has been detected. The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 120.96 crore, according to the Union health ministry.
