All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi, on Sunday, offered some history lessons to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who claimed that Chandragupta Maurya defeated Alexander the Great.

Taking a dig at the UP chief minister, Owaisi said Adityanath's remarks highlight the need for good public education system.

"Hindutva is a fake history factory. Chandragupta and Alexander never met in war. This is yet another example of why we need good public education system. In absence of good schools, baba-log get to make up facts according to convenience. Baba doesn’t value education and it shows," Owaisi was quoted as saying.

While addressing the 'Samajik Pratinidhi Sammelan' in Lucknow, the UP CM had said Indian history has been distorted even as he falsely claimed that Chandragupta Maurya defeated Alexander. "How is history distorted! History didn't call Chandragupta Maurya great, whom did it call great? The one who lost from him. They call Alexander, the great. The nation has been cheated. But historians are silent on it."
