A few days after RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav questioned the use of having Congress as an ally and called party leader and AICC in-charge for Bihar, Bhakta Charan Das, an imprudent person ('Bhakchonhar'), Sonia Gandhi reportedly spoke to Yadav on the phone, on Wednesday.

According to news agency ANI, the RJD leader said the Congress chief asked him about his well-being and whereabouts.

Yadav said he told her that he was doing well.

Further, the RJD chief said he told Gandhi that hers is an pan-India party and so she should get all like-minded people and parties together to form a strong alternative to the ruling BJP at the Centre. He also asked her to call a meeting of such parties.

Yadav and Gandhi are known to have excellent personal equations.

However, Das claimed that no conversation took place between Gandhi and Yadav, and added that he would have been informed about it, had there been such a talk.

"No conversation has taken place between Sonia Gandhi and Lalu Prasad Yadav. If talks had happened, then I would have been informed. There is no truth in it," he was quoted as saying.

On Sunday, when he was asked about the collapse of the alliance between the RJD and the Congress, Yadav sought to know what is the use of having a "gathbandhan" as it only leads to defeat. Besides, on Das’s recent allegation that there is a tacit understanding between the BJP and the RJD, Yadav called Das a ‘Bhakchonhar’.
