Congress leader Manish Tewari, on Monday, observed that radical outfits have been "emboldened" by the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban, and said India's should have expected the after-effects of this in takeover in Kashmir as well.

According to news agency ANI, the Congress leader said, "It has been two months since the Taliban has captured Afghanistan. Every radical and extremist outfit, not only in South Asia but across the largest middle eastern region has been emboldened by this takeover."

"The blowback that we are seeing in Jammu and Kashmir should have been anticipated after the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan," he further said.

In a tweet, Tewari on Monday, said, "Taliban’s victory is a harbinger. Will lead to both Inter-faith & even Intra-Islam Counter Polarisation."

"Foremost National Security challenge South Asia will face in next 5 yrs is Sunni Islamic Radicalisation & Extremism below conventional terror threshold," he tweeted.

On Sunday, the Congress leader had said a pan-Islamist agenda is at work in South Asia.

"Is there a link between killing of Non Muslims in Kashmir, Hindus in Bangladesh & massive infiltration in Poonch leaving nine Jawans dead? Perhaps so. A larger Pan Islamist agenda is at work in South Asia," he said in a tweet.

Kashmir has been witnessing a series of civilian killings in the recent times. On Sunday, terrorists shot dead two non-local labourers and injured another in Kulgam district. So far, 11 targeted civilian killings have been reported from Kashmir.
