India is safe under RSS; if not for Sangh, we would have become another Pakistan: Karnataka minister

A day after JD(S) leader and former Karnataka chief minister H.D. Kumaraswamy called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a "puppet" of the RSS and alleged that the Sangh is controlling the functioning of both the Union and Karnataka government, state minister Prabhu Chauhan said if not for RSS, India would have become another Pakistan.

According to news agency ANI, Chauhan, animal husbandry minister in the state cabinet, said RSS is a patriotic organisation safeguarding the country.

"India is safe under the RSS," he said and added that because of RSS, Indians need not fear any country or forces.

"India would have become another Pakistan if the RSS wasn't there," the minister was quoted as saying.

Kumaraswamy had alleged that RSS, as part of its hidden agenda, has created a team of bureaucrats in this country, who are now placed at various institutions. He also cautioned youth of the country against getting influenced by the "hidden agenda" of the RSS.

Earlier in the day, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge appeared to be backing the claim of Kumaraswamy as he said, "They (RSS) are infiltrating everywhere, even in education they are coming. Many officers are directly recruited, amending the rule and that much (people) are deprived of reservation...."
