Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) will contest independently in upcoming local body polls in Tamil Nadu.
Haasan took to Twitter on Thursday to make the poll announcement. He said the MNM will contest alone in all nine districts which will go to polls.
He said he will campaign in all nine districts. "See you on the field. Victory is ours," Haasan wrote.
In the recently held assembly polls, the party was in alliance with All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) and Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi (IJK). The alliance had failed to make an impact in the elections.
On Wednesday, PMK, which was the AIADMK ally in the assembly elections, too, announced its decision to go alone in the upcoming local body polls.
