Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday heaped praise on the governance of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Modi was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh University and the proposed Defence Corridor in Aligarh.

Modi was quoted by ANI as saying, "Today, Uttar Pradesh is becoming an attractive place for every small and big investor of the country and the world. This happens when the right environment is created for development. Yogi government is working towards development in the state."

Referring to the potential of the defence corridor, Modi said, "Today, not only the country, but world is also seeing that from modern grenades and rifles to fighter aircraft, drones, warships are being manufactured in India itself. India is moving towards making a new identity of a defence exporter."

The construction of the university is being seen as part of the BJP's outreach to the Jat community amid the farmers' agitation. Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh was a prominent Jat freedom fighter and social reformer. News 18 reported, "Construction will be done in Mooseupur village of Lodha block on 94 acres of land, for which the state government has released a budget of Rs 101 crore. Around 400 colleges will be affiliated to this university, the construction of which is to be completed by 2023."
