Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has commented that he is against the economic and foreign policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Swamy, who has been a critic of economic policies of the government, has hit out at the PM this time, saying Modi was not the king of India.

"I am anti Modi policies for the economy & foreign policy and I am ready to debate with any responsible on it. Have you heard about participatory democracy? Modi is not King of India," Swamy tweeted in reply to a tweet by a user.

The user had tweeted that Swamy was perhaps bitter for not being handed over the ministry of his choice. Swamy said that he's in fact "anti-Modi" for a different reason: he is against Narendra Modi's economic and foreign policies. Swamy also mentioned that he is ready to "debate" about this with anyone responsible.

The former Union Cabinet Minister also blamed the External Affairs Minster S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval for the "mess" India is in. "Will the bureaucrat duo Jaishankar and Doval ever apologise to the nation for the mess they have landed India in the international scene? They were given a free hand because Modi trusts politicians not peer level politicians. Now we in a mess with all our neighbours," Swamy tweeted.

On June 28 this year, Swamy had said that he has nothing peronal against PM Modi. "Some friends ask me why having supported Modi, I am now personally against him. That is not correct. I do not ever go personal per se like his ABs and GBs do. Wrong policies & postures which are counter to BJP's ideology have to be debated openly since party forums are moribund," Swamy tweeted.
