After Punjab, the political storm pursuing the Congress had shifted its epicentre to Rajasthan. The state is likely to see cabinet expansion and political appointments next week, with a delay in the said procedures whipping up resentment in the camp led by former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, who along with 18 MLAs had rebelled against the leadership of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot last year. Pilot was sacked as deputy chief minister after the episode, but the party high command had constituted panels to look into the issues raised by him.

AICC general secretaries K.C. Venugopal and Ajay Maken will visit the Rajasthan Congress office today. They will meet various stakeholders such as ministers, MLAs and office-bearers, with cabinet reshuffle on the agenda, news reports claimed.

Last month, MLAs from Pilot camp said that the party should fulfil the promises made to Pilot last month, following which the demand for cabinet expansion and political appointments gained momentum. At present, there are 21 members in the council of ministers, including chief minister, and nine slots are vacant. Rajasthan can have a maximum of 30 ministers.
